eldritchhobbit: (Rogue One/Baze smiling)
[personal profile] eldritchhobbit
It's time for my annual navel-gazing post, in which I take stock of the year beyond my university teaching for my own information/edification.

So here's my reading, podcasting, and published work this year.

Reading

Here's what I read this year, courtesy of Goodreads.

Podcasting

Beyond my monthly "Looking Back on Genre History" segments for StarShipSofa (Yay! Go team!), I've had the pleasure of being involved with several other podcasts this year, making multiple appearances on MuggleNet Academia, Far Fetched Fables, and Escape Pod, as well as contributing two narrations to The Drabblecast. This year also marks my first narration for the Cast of Wonders podcast. I've had a fantastic time, and I thank the great teams behind all of the podcasts who have invited me to play in their sandboxes.

I also have another narration completed that will run in 2017. Links to all of my podcasting appearances can be found here.

Publications

Here are my essays that were published this year:

* “Star Wars, Remixed: George Lucas’ Universe Is a Mashup Masterwork,” Reason (January 2016)

* “His Fordship in the Capitol and Big Brother in the Districts: The Hunger Games and the Modern Dystopian Tradition,” Critical Insights: The Hunger Games, Lana A. Whited, ed., Grey House/Salem Press, 2016

* Multiple blog posts for the Learn Liberty project with the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University

I also wrote two essays that will be published in 2017:
