Thanks for the reminder! Sadly, I reread 1984 last summer & realized that quite a lot of it was no longer SF . . . just terribly familiar. (The doubleplusduckspeaking in particular.)

Though the setting is primarily inspired by the works of Philip K. Dick, Psycho-Pass does occasionally allude to George Orwell (particularly 1984). Oddly enough, there's no direct mention of a certain quote attributed to Orwell. I speak of the one about (paraphrasing here) how we're able to sleep easily at night thanks to rough men ready to do violence on our behalf. That perfectly describes the Enforcers, so perhaps it's an indirect nod to that quote.
