It's been such a long time since I read "Splinter of the Mind's Eye" but I think I recall two things, if my memory is holding up: 1. Leia gets a turn fighting Darth Vader, and 2. Luke & Leia kiss, (indicating that Foster wasn't given a peek into Lucas's brain prior to publication).
