"the least of things with a meaning"
Jul. 16th, 2007 09:41 amHappy birthday to
ithidrial and
ruinithil, and happy early birthday to
travels_in_time. May all three of you have fantastic days, and may the coming year be your best yet!
A few links for your Monday:
* A new edition of Common-Place is now online, and it includes several interesting articles, including "National Character: Daniel Day-Lewis, American Historian" by Jim Cullen, and "Benjamin Franklin Slept Here" by Harvard historian Joyce E. Chaplin (who happened to be one of my dissertation committee members years ago at Vanderbilt).
*
in_tenebras, the reading group for Gothic and supernatural fiction, has just finished Edgar Allan Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. Soon the community will begin reading the Gothic classic Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg. Installments will be posted twice weekly, and now's a great time to join!
* SFSite has been updated with new features, including another installment of Neil Walsh's excellent column "Overlooked or Over-hyped?"
* News from Revolution Science Fiction: "Farscape to Return, Break Internet."
* For those of you who missed the recent Hidden Secrets of Harry Potter special on A&E, the entire hour-long special is now available on YouTube.
It all depends on how we look at things, and not on how things are in themselves. The least of things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it. - Carl Gustav Jung
