eldritchhobbit: (Past Watchful Dragons)

I'm baaaack! And I have news. The website for the "'Past Watchful Dragons': Fantasy and Faith in the World of C.S. Lewis" conference (to be held November 3-5, 2005 on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, USA) has been thoroughly updated to include lots of details about the event. Online registration and ticket sales begin April 1, 2005. If you know of anyone who is interested, please pass along the word. Thank you!

And from the sublime to the banal: if you must ever place a wager on a fight between a Viking and the Easter Bunny, bet on the Viking. News you can use, straight from campus.

And now, a quote for the day, an exchange between an Artificial Intelligence and a Human:

"You're always building models. Stone circles. Cathedrals. Pipe-organs. Adding machines. I got no idea why I'm here now, you know that? But if the run goes off tonight, you'll have finally managed the real thing."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"That's 'you' in the collective. Your species."

Ha! I have to admit, the Easter Bunny did put up a good fight.

Thanks! I'm not sure that I got enough context in that particular quote for it to make sense by itself, but I do love the comparison of Stonehenge and calculators. :)

Yes! I liked the progression - the relation to things we 'worship'.

Yes, exactly! And things we use to give meaning to the chaotic worlds around us.
