eldritchhobbit: (Halloween/Haunted)
[personal profile] eldritchhobbit
Thanks to everyone who took part in my recent poll about science fiction/fantasy television! (If you haven't and you'd like to do so, it's still open.) It looks like, from among the returning series, Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Supernatural, and Pushing Daisies have the highest following among my friends. The new series that look to have the best chance with my friends are Dollhouse (by a large margin), Fringe, Caprica, and True Blood. Firefly won by a healthy margin as the series my friends would most like to see return to television this Fall. (Yay Browncoats!)

Speaking of polls, 'tis the season for a poll about my LJ Halloween tradition of the last three years:

[Poll #1252345]

Thanks for participating!

We're new friends, so I have no idea what you normally do on Halloween, but I'm spine-chillingly eager to find out!!

I must confess I'm a bit leery as regards Dollhouse. The underlying concept just seems to have too great a potential to go horribly wrong.

Another one season wonder I've been checking out that should have lasted longer is The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. A real shame that.

I...have a confession to make. I clicked the "No. Now go and bob for apples all by yourself" box, but I didn't mean it! It was only because I thought it was hilarious. I would never let you bob for apples all by yourself! (And I clicked more boxes than just that one, too.)

Have you heard of LibraryGhost.com?

I'm soooo ready for your traditional "Halloween spectacular!!" It just makes the month of October for me. Keep it safe...keep it spooky:)

Most excellent! *rubs hands*

My only request: No sparkly vampires. ;)
(But now that I think of it, a post about the hammiest vampires ever would be a ton of fun! Hmmm...)

*can't wait for October*

A month ago I read Zelazny's A Night in the Lonesome October, each day of October was a chapter.

That's not a request. I just can't get the similarity out of my mind.

Yay - thanks! The last three years I've done a daily countdown to Halloween throughout October, and each day I've posted a verse, text, and/or link. This year's is going to be extra literary and (I hope) spooky in a fun, "old school" kind of way. Thanks for your encouragement! I hope you'll find it enjoyable. Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I find celebrating it a little each each day for a month spreads the fun around. :)

I'm not going to judge Dollhouse until I see it but, yeah, it could be great or, well, not so much. I'm especially worried that Fox has made Joss reshoot the pilot. If he has to follow the lead of the genuises who cancelled Firefly...

Bruce Campbell rules. I second your wish for more Brisco County!

ROFLOL! Thanks for not dooming me to solo apple-bobbing. I appreciate it.

I had never heard of LibraryGhost.com, but thanks to you, I checked it out. How awesome is that? Now I'm hooked. I love the official Willard ghost tour and the walkthrough video, and the fact they have the cams going for our ghost-hunting pleasure. ;) Thanks for the excellent recommendation!

(Incidentally, didn't you recommend Surviving Antarctica: Reality TV 2083? Thank you so much for that. I'm in the middle of it right now, and it's on my students' dystopian reading list.)

ROFLOL! No sparkly vampires. Check. In fact, no high school vampires, period!

I'm getting pretty psyched about October myself! *rubs hands too*

Well, the mental image I get when I think about you bobbing for apples all by yourself is really, really depressing.

The real credit goes to my mom for recommending that one. I haven't read it, but I was genuinely excited when I saw it made the list. :o)

See my worry is that Joss Whedon won't require any assistance from faceless network suits to screw it up royally.

LOL!

For me, the Firefly and Dr. Horrible 'verses have bought him the benefit of the doubt.
