Tomorrow will begin my month-long Halloween countdown, and I hope you will join me (and invite anyone else you know who might be interested) in celebrating Halloween here every day, throughout October. With only a couple of exceptions (for favorites that have become a tradition), all of the "spooky texts" that I will be posting are new to my countdown. I hope you will enjoy them!

Speaking of Halloween, I am pleased that The Library of America is releasing American Fantastic Tales: Terror and the Uncanny from Poe to Now, a two-volume boxed collection of the American Gothic tradition (from Edgar Allan Poe to today's masters of terror and the uncanny with 86 stories in all) in time for the holiday. It sounds like perfect October reading: bring it on!

I'd totally forgotten about that Prisoner remake and wasn't even sure it was a done-deal... Now it's *airing* already! What do you think - Good? Bad? Ugly?

Thanks for the banned books map - cool. Kind of low key here this year... The ACLU isn't doing the big "festival" they've done in the past - But the Book Festival is only a few weeks away, so \o/.

Have you seen the "I Read Banned Books" jewelry? I got this bracelet (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41igazjhNgL._SS400_.jpg) as a door prize at a library conference last spring. It's pretty awesome for being free. And it advertises the reading of banned books!

I enjoyed the 10 ten unanswered questions. My question re: SW wouldn't be Yavin though, it would be the erroneous concept that one can outrun a laser beam - much less see it. *rolls eyes* (As several sci-fi movies/shows use sound in space, I won't even bother with that one.)

It looks like they've only announced the US and Canadian dates so far, but I think it's supposed to go to Europe eventually, too (??). Here's the page for tour dates. My fingers are crossed that it will come to Germany for you!

That is SO awesome! I can't remember how I found out about it, but I actually got one last year, and I just love it. It's so clever that the charms are the book covers. :) You library folk are the coolest.

I know - it caught me by surprise, too. I am extremely cautiously optimistic (based on the teasers I've seen thus far), but that really could change at any moment. Mostly, I'm just holding my breath.

LOL. I know what you mean! What's that saying about the sincerest form of flattery? To be sure, one of the reasons I was so psyched about seeing this is that I thoroughly loved my experience of seeing Lord of the Rings in concert.
