Happy early birthday wishes to the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn. May the Force (Dark Side or Light Side, your choice) be with you!

* I wanted to be sure to pass along the word about Helping Haiti Heal, a huge multifandom donation drive kicking off via live webcast tomorrow, January 23, from 2-6pm ET. Among the more than one hundred items to be auctioned are a complete set of the U.K.-edition Harry Potter books along with a handwritten note from J.K. Rowling, a signed book by Neil Gaiman, five dedicated books by Sir Terry Pratchett, original conception art from the film Where the Wild Things Are, and much, much more. Go here for more information.

* And speaking of fundraisers, thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] gbsteve for being the high bidder for my signed copy of The Intersection of Fantasy and Native America: From H.P. Lovecraft to Leslie Marmon Silko for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti!

* There's a terrific new group blog well worth checking out: The Last Blog in the Universe, which is dedicated to reviewing and discussing dystopian fiction and film. (I've syndicated this for LiveJournal as [livejournal.com profile] dystopiablog.)

* From The Guardian: "Apocalypse Literature Then, and Now."

* Like tea? Like Hobbits? Now there's Hobbit Tea.

* Last but not least, here's a great video by Luke Burrage, inspired by his past year's global travels as a professional juggler. (Luke is the host of one of my favorite podcasts, The Science Fiction Book Review Podcast.)

It's the perfect blend of wonder and joy for a Friday afternoon. Watch it: you won't be sorry!
