Today we're doing this old school.

So let's get this party started! I'll let Lio from the Lio comic strip set the tone:

Text of the Day: Today's text is a verse, the spooky 1833 poem "The Vampire Bride" by Henry Liddell.

Excerpt:

"I am come — I am come! once again from the tomb,
In return for the ring which you gave;
That I am thine, and that thou art mine,
This nuptial pledge receive."

He lay like a corse 'neath the Demon's force,
And she wrapp'd him in a shround;
And she fixed her teeth his heart beneath,
And she drank of the warm life-blood!

And ever and anon murmur'd the lips of stone,
"Soft and warm is this couch of thine,
Thou'lt to-morrow be laid on a colder bed —
Albert! that bed will be mine!"

Read the complete poem.

Doesn't Lio know that it was the Bela Lugosi portrayal of Dracula that started the whole romanticizing of vampires which ultimately led to Twilight? A better choice would have been Nosferatu. Though that movie also had its faults (the introduction of the sunlight destroys vampires concept and the Gawdawful pacing), at least it retained the concept of vampires being repulsive.

Oh no! You're being all logical about this! That won't do at all! *wink* No, no, you're quite right. Nosferatu would be much more appropriate there.

That said, at least Bela, despite the sex appeal, was mad, bad, and dangerous to know... and sparkle-free. ;)
