eldritchhobbit: (LOTR/Bilbo/Not at Home)

A variety of notes today:

Lord of the Rings:
Happy birthday to Bilbo and Frodo Baggins! Today is the anniversary of the Long-Expected Party celebrating Bilbo's eleventy-first birthday and Frodo's coming of age in The Lord of the Rings. I'll be joining members of the Lómelindi Smial of the Tolkien Society and the LOTR Tennessee Fellowship tonight at a local pub for our fourth annual Baggins Bash celebration. Cheers for the Hobbits!

Star Wars:
[livejournal.com profile] randomalia has a must-see Star Wars music video entitled "The Lucky Ones" available here. Run, don't walk, to see it.

Music:
My new review of Glass Hammer's The Inconsolable Secret double album and interview with Glass Hammer's Steve Babb are available now here, published by Heren Istarion, the Northeast Tolkien Society. Glass Hammer will be performing at the "Past Watchful Dragons" C.S. Lewis conference in Nashville in October.

General Fandom:
Filk guru The Great Luke Ski recently posted a lie about me (at my request), and I must admit, I'm giving it some thought:

Eldritch Hobbit, along with wonder dog Virginia the Boston Terrier, will take over Dr. Phil's show and change the format to a call-in show which discusses Tolkien fan-fic ideas. Iams will sponsor it with Virginia as spokes-dog.

Why not? The plan has a certain appeal... :) Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] lukeski!

And now, in honor of the Baggins Birthdays, a quote:

"There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”

-Thorin Oakenshield to Bilbo Baggins, in The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien
