First, a quick announcement: I'm now on Twitter.

In more historical news, H.P. Lovecraft died on this day in 1937.

Now known as the Benefit-Dexter House, this building at 187 Benefit Street once was the Knowles Funeral Home, where the funerals of H.P. Lovecraft and his aunt Lillian were held.

what!? you've gone over to the Dark Side? Is F/B next? I like the BDHouse......seems like a nice place for a great going-away party!

Happy journeys, HP!

One of these days I'm going to have to do the Lovecraft tour of Providence. It really isn't very far away, maybe an hour from here.

LOL! Kicking and screaming. I'm not leaving LJ, though, you can be sure.

And no F/B for me. As Dana Carvey used to say, "Notgonnadooit."

I agree. When I was in Providence I heard stories of students who ended up living there - it was converted into housing for a while - and claiming it was haunted, but in a benign and almost charming way.

*sigh* I really need another tramp through Providence!

Hugs to you.

Oh, I'm salivating at the thought of the amazing photos you'd take! *flail*

I loved my tour so much. Incredible architecture. You could see why HPL was entranced.

Sad day, indeed. Lovecraft's passing was a great loss to the genre. Along with Poe, he led me into horror, where I've stayed ever since.

I followed you on Twitter and got a notification that you were following me back, and then another notification that you'd tweeted me a link. Then both notifications disappeared. Glitch?

Ah, so sorry - I got hacked almost immediately upon signing up, and I had to change all of my information. I'm still trying to work out what *I* did and what was done without my knowledge. *facepalm* Apologies!!!

Bummer! What a welcome to Twitter that must have been. :-( I've heard of people getting hacked, but not right away like that!

Actually, it was March 15, 1937. However, April 15 is an even more terrible event: Tax Day.

Lovecraft actually died on March 15, 1937. A far more horrible event is remembered on April 15: Tax Day!
