Here’s another urban legend for you from Richmond, Kentucky, this time set on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University:
The most famous ghost on campus is the Blue Lady, who haunts the Keen Johnson Building. Her identity is unknown, but she got her sobriquet because she’s often seen surrounded by a blue mist. Sometimes she appears simply as the cloud itself. Occasionally the haze envelops the entire exterior of the building, usually starting at the bell tower and spreading downward. Sightings of the Blue Lady began in the 1950s, and plenty of tales about her exist. She’s said to be a young woman, probably a former student, dressed in a ball gown. Supposedly she committed suicide in Keen Johnson by hanging herself either on the sixteenth floor or in the Pearl Buchanan Theatre on the ground level. (It’s worth noting that no suicide on campus has ever been documented.)
The Blue Lady has been heard singing, especially backstage in the theatre and in the bell tower. She also roams the ballroom and the sixteenth floor. Doors open and shut on their own, or the knobs will move and rattle. Elevators operate without being called, and ethereal piano music has floated through the air. A few people have reported hearing loud music from inside the walls.
