Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] alii_s. I wish you a wonderful day, and many more to come.

In much sadder news, Madeleine L'Engle, the beloved author of over sixty books such as the Time Quintet series (including the award-winning A Wrinkle in Time), is gone. I am heartbroken.

This has been a very hard week, first Pavarotti and now L'Engle. I worshipped her as a kid. I think i better buy a new copy of WiT and reread, to celebrate her life. (Always had library copies before.)

The news of Pavarotti was so sad! I'm going to have a rereading binge to remember L'Engle, too - that's a wonderful idea.

That is hard news. I would have wished her to be there and vigorous for her centennial, at least. The world is never really ready to let go of artist's like Madeleine L'Engle. But she has certainly influenced more than one generation of writers and sparked the imaginations of readers of every age. A life well lived, I would say.

Very much so - that's a beautiful way to think about it.

I loved reading A Wrinkle in Time in grade school. I am saddened.

This was one of my favorite authors as a child/young adult. It saddens me to hear she's gone. :-(
