eldritchhobbit: (Qui-Gon/A True Knight)
[personal profile] eldritchhobbit
Happy birthday to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] serpentcoils. May the Force be with you!

In her honor, the quotes for the day are the five tone poems from Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace:

"One Dream" (Anakin's Tone Poem)
What if dreams came true,
And you could be who you wanted to be,
And you could do what you wanted to do,
And you could help who you wanted to help?
What if dreams came true
And the world opened up
And you were never, ever afraid?
What if dreams came true?
But dreams do come true...
Don't they?

"One Will" (Amidala's Tone Poem)
There are things I cannot do.
I cannot watch while people suffer.
I cannot sit when something must be done.
I cannot cannot judge those who are different.
There are things I cannot do.
I cannot run, hide, or ignore.
There are things I cannot do.
But there are certainly things I will do.

"One Love" (Shmi's Tone Poem)
Don't look back before you go.
Eyes forward.
Choices to make.
Dreams to realize.
Don't look back before you go.
Know the truth, learn to let go.
Don't look back before you go,
Before you leave me.

"One Truth" (Darth Maul's Tone Poem)
Fear.
Fear Attracts the Fearful, the Strong, the Weak, the Innocent, the Corrupt.
Fear.
Fear is my ally.

"One Destiny" (Qui-Gon's Tone Poem)
It will be a hard life,
One without reward.
Without remorse.
Without regret.
A path will be placed before you.
The choice is yours alone.
Do what you think you cannot do.
It will be a hard life,
But you will find out who you are.

Oh no there is NOT a "Qui-Gon remix" of "My Heart Will Go On".

Is there? Really?

Beautiful poems. I like Amidala's especially.

LOL! Would I lie about something like that?!?

It's available as an MP3 download here from the "In Love With Qui-Gon Jinn" fan website. It mixes Celine Dion's original "My Heart Will Go On" (okay, not my favorite song) with dialogue by Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan (very nicely edited, a really great job). Disturbingly compelling in an unexpected way. I keep listening... :)

I do like those poems. They were used as voiceovers in the original Ep. I ads, but I like them spelled out as text, as well. I'm so glad you like them, too!

Hi there! ::waves:: Love your icon. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets teary at that song -- it's really incredibly moving the way they edited it, don't you think?

Oh, wow. Downloaded it and though I am not a complete fan of the new movies (or Hayden), it's awesomely done. Of course, I do like the original song.

It is awesomely done, isn't it? And you know, I think there was an era when I did like the original song... it was the millionth time I heard it on the radio that did it for me. You know, overkill syndrome. This remix helps me to see it with new eyes again (or is that hear it with new ears again?). And the dialogue mixed in is so perfect!

(Pssst: Not a Hayden fan either, by the way. We're on the same page! LOL. Though I'm a big fan of Obi-Wan, both young and old, and Qui-Gon is my Jedi.)

Thanks for letting me share this with you!

Thanks for the tone poems - I never knew Anakin had one. Go fig. *g*

And Qui-Gon's poem is just... the bomb. It's a shame they never had Liam speak it and hired some Other Guy, but at least Other Guy's voice is good. Thanks also for the link to the Love QG site. ::loves::

Thanks for the tone poems

You bet!

And Qui-Gon's poem is just... the bomb. It's a shame they never had Liam speak it

Isn't it remarkable? I love it. So fitting. I've seen .wav files out on the 'Net listed as Liam speaking the text. Is it actually a Liam impersonator? :-o If so, I feel silly for not hearing the difference, because I really liked the inflection at the end. Now I want to go and listen to more LN -- rough job, but someone has to do it. *wink*

Thanks also for the link to the Love QG site. ::loves::

You're welcome! It's ridiculous how much I like that remix song. I think it's addictive. :)

It's always a pleasure to share the Qui-love with you!

Is it actually a Liam impersonator?

It is. In this case, it's the same actor who was hired by Lucasfilm to do the voice for the QG action figure voice chips. Someone posted the actor's name to master_apprentice years ago, but I can't recall it now.

It's always a pleasure to share the Qui-love with you!

Same here!

Well, how very Sithly of Lucasfilm. I'm glad you set me straight! The imposter's -- er, impersonator's -- voice is good, but yet I feel so... used somehow. *wink*

Hey there, my fellow Snape-and-Toriphile! ::waves:: I'm so glad you tracked me down. It sounds like the Chicago show was fantastic! Oh wow, I can't believe she sang "Y,A." *sigh* I got the new tour book (which is lovely!) but as yet no tickets. Am I right that there probably will be a full-band tour later? I'm so hoping she'll come close by. I've seen her four times in Nashville, and I do want to see her again. Especially with some of the songs from The Beekeeper - so amazing!.

Anyway, I'm thrilled that you saw her and had such a good time. And I think the fact that you thought of this icon and all during "Y,A" means I was kind of there in spirit! :):):) So thanks for the vicarious squee -- I'm squeeing back! :)

*hugs* to you!

i usually find people who have the bootlegs of the concerts and trade with them (or beg shamelessly) for the chicago shows, so they're kinda like souvenirs. so, if i do, i'll upload YA for you so you can hear it.

we're hoping there's a full band. my friend benjamin, who is on the chicago 'street team' for tori, doesn't know for sure, but he knew every detail of how the show would go. he's so involved :) but we're really hoping. i mean, this show just with her was amazing, but there are just some songs that NEED matt and jon with her. (yes, i know her drummer and bassist. maybe i'm too involved? hah!)

anyway, yay for hugs! awesome. and seriously, check my LJ, bc i discussed the concert in a recent post. and it's open, so it's not like you have to be on my flist.

*hugs back*
