I am back from an excellent conference in beautiful Montreal (though, alas, with a stomach virus as a souvenir), and I look forward to catching up with everyone as soon as possible.

While I was away, I received a welcome shock: I learned that I had won the Scholastic Open Book Tour Sweepstakes. I'll be at Carnegie Hall next month for an evening with J.K. Rowling, during which she will read from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, answer questions from the audience, and sign books. Gallopin' gargoyles!

Awwww! I'm still aghast that I won - I had to call back to confirm it, just to be sure. ;) I can't imagine the odds against it. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I can't wait to tell my students.

Thanks so much! I'm not feeling much better yet, but as long as I stay over here and food stays way over there, far away, I think it will be okay. ;) And I still can't believe I won the sweepstakes. Oh,yes,I hope so too,cause then you can tell us about what she says. I thought it was interesting that we learned so much about the details of what happened to her characters in interviews. Lots of stuff left out of the book. Me,I'm always curious to get every last little scrap out of all the JK and of course JRR's books. ;-0
