Thanks for the links! I love audio books. It's nice to just sit back and close my eyes.

Thank you so very much for the VanderMeer link. I've been on a scifi/fantasy kick lately and have been looking for recommendations. I'm glad that he included magic-realism and surrealistic novels because those are my favorite scifi sub-genres.

I was also really excited to find out that the amazing illustrator Shuan Tan has a graphic novel out.

I've read a lot of fantasy books this past month and a half.... One great read (for me) was Christopher Hopper's first two books in his "White Lion Chronicles." Rise of the Dibor and The Lion Vrie They reached a level of emotion with me that I've rarely experienced upon reading a book. Particularly The Lion Vrie. Only serious complaint is the number of spelling mistakes in the Rise of Dibor book. The second one isn't nearly as bad, I only caught one mistake in that one. Another fairly good recent read was Wayne Thomas Batson's Door Within Trilogy. While it seems to be geared towards people of about twelve years old perhaps, I still really enjoyed it. They are both written from a Christian world-view but avoid getting preachy, which is refreshing, it seems that the desire of the authors is more to tell a good story then anything. I like that. While not really 2007 novels, those would be my picks for (new to me anyways) fantasy.

Speaking of poems, I read one of Tolkien's poems in The Hobbit and was struck how brilliant he is with the language. I wrote about it on my writing blog here I was so excited about it. :D I couldn't help but think it a real treat, not only in what it said but how it was said.
