Thanks for the links to the lameassery. Lol. I noticed, though, that while Jar Jar is mentioned, he isn't actually included in the list when he should really be highlighted as he is the penultimate of lameassery! :P

To give Tim Russ his props, though, I think Tuvok's story in the final episode of Voyager was one of its only redeeming factors. I remember thinking "Oh great, they waited until the last hour of the show to make him an interesting character...!"

*slaps forehead* Of course! Duh, Amy. I must say, it's wonderful. I can't stop listening. Unfortunately, they redid part of the "Wonder" song by Galadriel, changing it from the arrangement performed in Toronto, and I liked the earlier version better. But the hobbit sections, in particular, are just perfect on the soundtrack.

Something else that should go in the Hall of Lame is the Reavers as portrayed in Serenity. In Firefly they had this Lovecraftian vibe going for them. As we all know, Lovecraft is not lame (as least not much). What is lame is forcing on a half-arsed revelation for the sake of a Blake's 7 homage. When I first saw this, my reaction was similar to Tolkien's over how Great Birnam wood came to high Dunsinane hill.

LOL! I did love the Firefly Lovecraftian Reavers, I must admit, but I'll go a long way towards forgiving the Serenity Reavers because of the great point it lets them make about the unintended consequences of the paternalistic state. And, of course, Jar-Jar Binks was far, far more lame. ;)

Making a point (no matter how good) can never forgive lameness, especially when the alternative is Lovecraftian. For a better executed example of unintended consequences, there's the Doctor Who episode Bad Wolf.

From the 1st listing of Lame: Wesley Crusher! Ahahhah! I must've been one of the few who liked Wesley, even in the midst of his uber-genius-kiddedness. He was cheesy goodness. The character I've always had a (heaving) gut reaction to is Deanna Troi - and I've worked hard to erase images of Troi and Riker from my mind...oh, no, they're ba-ack!

One of my favorite things about Galaxy Quest was Sigourney Weaver's character repeating what the computer said. Her job skill set had all the importance of Deanna Troi's: after all, did we really need someone to tell us that lifeform X was feeling hostile, when he/she/it had just fired phasers?
