Arthur C. Clarke (December 16, 1917-March 18, 2008)
A legend is gone.

Read more here and here.

"I can never look now at the Milky Way without wondering from which of those banked clouds of stars the emissaries are coming. If you will pardon so commonplace a simile, we have set off the fire alarm and have nothing to do but to wait. I do not think we will have to wait for long."
- from "The Sentinel," Arthur C. Clarke

He had a great, very long run, and it still seems far, far too soon. ::slumps:: Farewell, great man!

That's a bummer. He did have a good long run though.

I have passed many a pleasant hour reading Mr. Clarke's work. He is missed.

Hey, Amy.

If you're still looking for dystopias, you might consider a book I've recently learned about and just started reading -- Clarke and Mike McQuay's Richter 10. I don't know how good it is, but it is Arthur C. Clarke.
