Greetings from Cleveland! My flight home was cancelled this morning, so I'll be spending about nine hours more than I'd planned here. Poor, pitiful me! Ah, well. The colloquium was wonderful, The Goonies is on local TV here in the hotel, and I have three excellent books and my computer with me, so things could be much worse.

In happier news, I have something wonderful to share with you. During the most recent Sweet Charity auction, I won the vidding artistry of the talented heidi8. I requested a Lord of the Rings video using "The Fellowship" from Bob Catley's brilliant 2001 album Middle Earth.

heidi8 has worked her magic and posted the resulting video, and it absolutely takes my breath away. Check out this gorgeous work of art!

I can relate. Oh, can I relate. Did you spend three hours waiting at the airport beforehand, only to find out that your plane is never coming? Hey, at least I got to go back home to my parents, my kitty, my computer, and my nice, comfy bed when my flight was cancelled. I didn't have my checked luggage though...

You can relate! They caught me at the hotel, thank heavens, so I hadn't made it all the way to the airport. But still, I had to check out of the airport at noon (by which time I should've already been home), and that left over six more hours before my flight... Bleah. I do think you had it much worse, though. :(

Geh! No you had it worse. All I did was miss a couple classes. What did you do between checking out of the hotel and your flight? I would've panhandled if I were you...

Panhandled! LOL! I suppose I lucked out: the hotel was next to a mall that had both a coffee shop and a Hard Rock Cafe, so I camped out first in one and then the other and ate/drank and read my books. Yes, I know, I'm the life of the party. :)

Good thing you found out before you left the hotel - Now you have 9 hours of vacation... Not 9 hours of sitting in an airport chair surrounded by annoyed people. :-)
