Happy Wednesday! I have some news to share...

* As you may know, I've begun narrating contemporary science fiction stories for the UK audio science fiction magazine StarShipSofa. (You can hear my narration of Elizabeth Bear's "And the Deep Blue Sea" here, and other narrations will go up soon.) As of today, I've also begun contributing an audio "article" for StarShipSofa's "Aural Delights" Wednesday program, in which I give my commentary about a science fiction topic. These will run once a month. My first is available on today's show. (It begins approximately 10 minutes into the podcast.) If you listen, I hope you enjoy!

Oh, lol, I have tickets but it wasn't on my calendar. That would have been depressing if I had remembered after the fact when I read your report about it. Thanks for the timely reminder! Now I just need to lure somebody into driving there with me. ;)

Absolutely! That would be really great! I'll touch base when things firm up, but it will probably be your schedule we'll work with, not mine. I'm just planning to be a tourist without a care in the world. ;)

I went over to listen to your narration of 'And the Deep Blue Sea' and was highly amused by the idiosyncratic introduction. I also like the way he enthused over your voice and referred to you as a tom boy. :-) You sound a bit like I imagined you would when I saw your picture - please don't ask me to explain that. From what I've heard, narrating a story is hard, hard work so colour me highly impressed that you're done that as well as all your academic work.

Thanks for listening! The introduction totally cracked me up. I wasn't expecting that. :) Since that recording I've upgrading my equipment, so the later ones (and the new commentaries) are much crisper. At least, I hope so! It's funny: I just love the act of reading aloud, but I quite dislike the sound of my own voice! At any rate, thanks so much for listening, and for your kind words and encouragement!
