* I have accepted an invitation to be a visiting expert at J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings: The Real and the Imagined Middle Ages, an institute funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities that will be held during Summer 2009 at Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. The LiveJournal community for this institute is
lotr_middleages. My fellow visiting experts include such luminaries in the field as Douglas A. Anderson and Verlyn Flieger, so needless to say I am honored to have been invited to participate by Co-Director
robin_anne_reid, and I am quite looking forward to my involvement.
* John Granger's new book The Deathly Hallows Lectures is now available. The book explores the meaning of Harry Potter and, more specifically, the series finale. If you're a serious reader of the Rowling books, or you know someone who is, you'll want to check this out!
* For the month of October, The Hog’s Head will be reading and discussing one H.P. Lovecraft story a week. Learn more here! This will be great fun both for Lovecraft devotees and those new to Lovecraft's work.
It's coming soon.... My Halloween countdown begins tomorrow! See you there.

"Tangled branches of
Shadowy hair
Wrinkle crisp lines
In the September air.
Black robins bobbing,
Dig out
From summer coarsen throats
A solitary song."
