This is AMAZING. I've added it to my memories. YA dystopic fiction is one of my favourite genres to read, and so this list was just... the best thing to be referred to thanks to [livejournal.com profile] azhure this morning.

I'm so glad this is of interest and use to you! Thanks so much for your comment. For the purposes of this list, I've defined "dystopian" broadly to include post-apocalyptic and post-disaster stories that focus more on the worlds that evolved after the cataclysms than the disasters themselves. I've also limited this list to books specifically written/marketed for YA audiences. If you happen to know of any titles I missed, I'd be grateful if you'd let me know. Thanks!

I decided that I wanted to write my senior research paper on young adult dystopias and my librarian found this site for me. I just wanted to say, thank you very much for posting this bibliography because I had to prove that there are sources to be found on my topic and this list helped me do that. Thank you again!!

Thank you so much for replying to my post! I apologize for the misspelling(!); I've corrected it now.

Congratulations on the very positive advance reviews of your novel. I'm really looking forward to reading it as soon as it's published!

I'm currently working my way through this list myself. It's very exciting to me that there have been so many good YA dystopias published recently. I teach a university course on dystopian thought, too, and I'm always looking for new novels to assign and recommend.

Thanks again for visiting my LJ!

I did not realize that there were so many dystopians out there that I haven't read. I love this list. I just went on to paperbackswap and ordered a whole pile of books.

The Line was excellent. I'm really looking forward to reading Inside Out soon too.

...

I have been going nuts, trying to find a post-apocalyptic children's book I read as a kid in the 90's, and I've just found which it was from this post.

The book in question was Watchers at the Shrine, the 3rd in Jean Ure's Plague trilogy. The only bit of title-related detail I had was that there was a prequel with April in the title, which was of course Come Lucky April.

Thank you so very, very much for this list. :)
