eldritchhobbit: (Halloween)
[personal profile] eldritchhobbit

I'm so glad I listened to [livejournal.com profile] witchcat07 and [livejournal.com profile] arymetore when they said that the best pumpkin spice coffee could be found at the Coffee Shop of Horrors. They were right! It's called Ichabod's Dame, and it's delicious. If you visit the site, be sure to check out other coffees and teas, too; with names like Burial Grounds and Graveyard Shift, the shop shows proper October spirit. (Hint: Use the discount code GRAVEYARD and receive 10% off your first order.)

Speaking of good advice, take mine and listen to Peadar Ó Guilín's ([livejournal.com profile] peadarog's) chilling short story "The Evil-Eater," now available here at Pseudopod narrated by Wilson Fowlie. I thoroughly enjoyed this creepy story when it came out in Black Gate. Go forth and listen!

Thanks to everyone who took part in my poll on "off the beaten track" films for Halloween. I'm going to follow up on your excellent suggestions and watch some spooky films! Here's the trailer for the movie recommended by [livejournal.com profile] marthawells, which is too much fun not to share:

Text of the Day: If this isn't a Halloween-friendly title, I don't know what is. Here's the short story "Stolen Brains" by Captain S.P. Meek (1894-1972).

Teaser: Three of the men grasped the doctor and forced him into the chair and Slavatsky started the generator. The violet light bathed Dr. Bird's head and he felt a stiffness and contraction of his neck muscles, and as he tried to shout out his knowledge of Slavatsky's treachery, he found that his vocal chords were paralyzed. Through a gathering haze he could see Carson approaching with an anesthesia cone and the sweet smell of lethane assailed his nostrils. He fought with all his force, but strong hands held him, and he felt himself slipping—slipping—slipping—and then falling into an immense void. His head slumped forward on his chest and Slavatsky shut off the generator.

I love Lost Skeleton. :D

There's a sequel out for Lost Skeleton and they made a murder mystery film called Dark and Stormy Night too.

Um, that was different. *g*

I couldn't think of a movie at the time, but did anyone mention Macabre? I remember seeing that movie as a kid. It took me forever to get a copy of it.

TCM is playing horror films every Friday night this month. It seems like they are mostly Hammer Horrors, last week I caught "The Devil's Bride", based on a Dennis Wheatley novel, it was excellent. Tonight is Mummy Night.

I don't remember Macabre, but the IMDB description sounds chilling. There's another one for my list. Thanks!

Not sure if you knew, but I was referring to the 1958 version, since I mentioned being a kid and all. *g*

I just wish to point out that [livejournal.com profile] arymetore would not recommend coffee to anyone because he doesn't drink it and doesn't like it. But I'm glad you like Ichabod's Dame. :~)

LOL! He's missing out! But that's more for us, isn't it? *wink* But you're right, when he suggested it to me, it was because you recommended and enjoyed it. I'm so glad you did. Thanks again!
