Happy birthday to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] agentxpndble, a super lady and the mistress of two great websites:

May you have a fantastic day and many more!

And here is one more Half-Blood Prince essay recommendation, a fascinating look at Spinner's End by [livejournal.com profile] junediamanti: "So Where Is Spinner's End?"

In honor of [livejournal.com profile] agentxpndble, keeper of all things John Castle, a quote for the day:

Philip: If that's a warning, thank you.
Geoffrey: What if it's an offer?
Philip: "What if" is a game for scholars: what if angels sat on pinheads?
Geoffrey: What if I were king?
Philip: It's your game, Geoff; you play it.

I agree that Spinner's End wasn't what I was expecting: I wonder if that contrast was intentional on Rowling's part? It does make sense that Snape wouldn't use his old home much, more than likely, considering the memories attached to it. (From Order of the Phoenix: "[A]nd suddenly Harry's mind was teeming with memories that were not his -- a hook-nosed man was shouting at a cowering woman, while a small dark-haired boy cried in a corner.... A greasy-haired teenager sat alone in a dark bedroom, pointing his want at the ceiling, shooting down flies.... A girl was laughing as a scrawny boy tried to mount a bucking broomstick --") At any rate, the atmospheric description, and the image of Pettigrew skulking about in the shadows and behind doors, really added to the whole scene with Narcissa -- and she obviously knew where to find him, whether Spinner's End is his family home or a Death-Eater safehouse, or something else entirely. I'm hopeful we'll learn more about this place at some point.

Must. Find. Lupin. Discussions. (!!!) And I do want to hear all of your thoughts, too!

Wishing you Geoff and a happy birthday!
