Seeing Blackout and All Clear by Connie Willis on the Locus list was quite a surprise! As you know, I'm no fan of Blackout and I remember that you felt All Clear also screamed out for more focus and better editing. (Julie D., Forgotten Classics)

Good catch! I was rather surprised by that, myself - and it made me question the validity of the rest of the list, too. (I did very much like CryoBurn by Lois McMaster Bujold, but that's hardly a surprise. The day I don't love one of her books is the day I'll be convinced there's a rip in the space-time continuum, and all life as we know it is doomed. *g*)

The Chronicle article was muy interesante - especially the closing paragraphs about asymmetric threats. If the field of international relations is only just starting to think about such things, it could definitely do with this book shaking it up a little. Have you read it yet, by the way?

Good point! I haven't read it yet, though my husband's read several other reviews of it, and based on those, he suggested it to me. Also, darth_kittius above recommends it. So I'm thinking I should check it out.
