Just a quick note to thank everyone who has contacted me to ask about how we are in the wake of Hurricane Irene. Fortunately, we're far enough west in North Carolina that we weren't affected, save for some extra cloudiness.

I do hope all of my friends on the East Coast are well? I'm thinking of you!

How sad is it that, given the state of my flist, I find it useful when people make that distinction? *headdesk*

LOL! I know what you mean. I heard "concern about Irene" on the radio, and my brain immediately went to "A Scandal in Bohemia"... ;)

Glad to hear you are OK! We're still hanging in here in New England. The storm should pass over us this afternoon, but has been downgraded to a tropical storm. The news says we've had 6" of rain so far. O_o

I saw your post about the bridge (so sad!). I hope the water levels are continuing to drop and you're "drying out" up there!

All the rivers nearby should be below flood stage by this afternoon. Vermont got hit even harder than we did. :(

Glad to hear you're doing okay! We're just getting into the worst of it now, but "the worst" in our area is likely to limit itself to boredom-inducing power outages and some downed branches, so it's hard to justify complaining too much.

The storm system has almost completely left the DC area. A lot of folks are without power, but fortunately I'm not one of them. Still, they're asking us to chill at home while the authorities deal with flooding and downed trees and powerlines.

Glad to hear you're okay and you didn't lose power!

Virginia family seems to be okay. Lost power for about 18 hours I think, but otherwise pretty mild, at least as far as I've heard.
