[livejournal.com profile] amedia brought up an excellent subject today: what new television series are you planning to give a try?

We're going to give American Horror Story (because the premise is intriguing), Dark Matters: Twisted But True (science! horror! John Noble! and science!), and Person of Interest (a J.J. Abrams show with Michael Emerson, enough said, although I still hold a grudge against Jim Caviezel for that unforgivable remake of The Prisoner) a try. I thought about recording Terra Nova, too, but it promises to be a CGI-fest, so I think not.

Speaking of which, I'd love to know which TV series (renewed for the next season) my friends watch. The poll below includes the shows I follow year-round, in order of my love and devotion.

I admit it, I've become something of a TV addict. Not having cable is killing me, but then, the TV was an easy to ignore background noise when writing. I could look up and follow when I need to think, ignore it when I figured out what I wanted to write (the benefits of an ADHD brain set to multi-tasking as its default). Pretty unhappy that Bravo makes you pay for iTunes to see stuff and that TNT has now locked anyone without a cable provider out. Meh.

Very frustrating about Bravo and TNT!

Finally found a place where I can watch both! LOL!

Course, now I have to remember the schedules. :P

new shows - whatever that one is with Patrick Wilson (Raoul!) and Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Bennet!) - seriously just because I want to see my own reactions, given they are so associated with specific roles to me. (Though granted, we got to see Jennifer Ehle in the King's Speech, and it wasn't quite as weird as I'd anticipated)

continuing - Doctor Who is the only one I avoid missing at all costs, NCIS, Castle, Hawaii 5-0 (even if the last two are examples of the above - watch Castle for Nathan Fillion (Captain Mal!) and Hawaii 5-0 for what's his name who was Mick St. John in Moonlight... (What I wouldn't give for another season of either of those two - Firefly and Moonlight are my two best examples of fantastic tv ended too soon)

Meep! I didn't complete my list... my brain not functioning....

Let me correct that then --

Burn Notice, Castle, NCIS, White Collar, Covert Affairs, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS:LA, Necessary Roughness....

Actually the whole slate of USA Cable's programming works for me, well, except the "legal" shows -- Fairly Legal is okay, although the lead character is exhausingly perky-upbeat, but Suits just never rang my bell.

But must sees -- Burn Notice, Castle and NCIS. The rest I can catch in varioius ways. I don't watch the original CSI so much any more: I'm a big fan of William Petersen, and just haven't "recovered" from his departure.

*cheers for Castle's Nathan Fillion, in particular*

I don't really know what new shows are coming up, other than Terra Nova, which I'm inclined to watch due to Jon Cassar's involvement.

Castle, Warehouse 13, Bourdain's No Reservations, and NCIS.

ETA: White Collar and H50, too.

I'm not a faithful viewer, but I do love to catch No Reservations when I can. I "casually" watch NCIS when convenient, as well, for Ducky. ;)

Hmm. Sanctuary, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Mentalist, Castle, NCIS (maybe, not feeling the love so much any more), Haven, Eureka, Warehouse 13. All I can think of for the moment.

I don't watch it faithfully, but I will watch NCIS when it's convenient, for Ducky. ;)

That is, if when you say "watch" you count "wait for the DVD release and watch it all in one go". Which is what we do with Dr Who and Sherlock.;~)

Oh, that definitely counts! That's how I watch the brilliant Garrow's Law. So many good things are being made "across the pond" at the moment!

I actually answered for both TODS and me - he's the one who loves Fringe (and Lovecraft) and In Plain Sight, which I watch bits and pieces of. We both watch Sherlock, Warehouse 13 and Castle.

We didn't actually set out to watch 2 Broke Girls; we were watching the premiere of Two and a Half Men, which was utterly lame, and the Tivo had collected the first part of 2 Broke Girls while we were watching Men, and the teaser alone was funnier than the whole episode of Men, so we kept watching. I'm not sure if it's a keeper, but I'm willing to try another episode or two.

My MW*C roommate pimped me into White Collar and lent us the entire first season, which TODS also likes if only for the style (he loves to wear skinny retro ties et al), but we can't start watching the current eps until we get hold of the second season, which isn't out on DVD yet.

I would have added Good Eats but I recently learned that Alton is moving on to other projects. Alas!

I, too, watch bits and pieces of In Plain Sight, when it's convenient. Sad news about Alton leaving!
