It's World Zombie Day. Have you hugged someone undead today?

This was taken near Little Axe, Oklahoma. Yes, I said "Little Axe." Appropriate, eh?

Night of the Living Dead, and Shaun of the Dead. :)

Oh, Shaun of the Dead, indeed! Definitely belongs on my "best of" list. I've never heard Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" the same way since... ;)

Oooh, 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead, hands down. Both because they really represent British culture in a terrifying way. Shaun may go the comedy way with it, but it's still amazingly spot on.

28 Days Later because Naomi Harris is brilliant and I can watch her interact with Cillian Murphy and Christopher Eccleston ALL DAY.

Truth be told, I'm not terribly fond of the post-NotLD style of zombies. Having said that, I was rather surprised to find that I sort of liked World War Z. The book, that is. The movie removes pretty much everything that made the book appealing. Though to its credit, the poster for it was something visually interesting instead of being just another Photoshop hack job.

I need to read the book. Thanks for the recommendation! And thanks also for the warning about the film. (It's in our Netflix queue, low enough down to reflect our general apathy about seeing it.) That's a shame that it didn't do justice to its original source.

I'd recommend getting the audio book for World War Z. I'm not usually one for audio books but it works perfectly for that one as it's basically interviews.

I agree that the movie does not share much plot wise with the book, but I still think it's a great zombie movie. It has one of the best zombies ever, really Oscar worthy (I'm talking about the British one, you'll know when you watch it).

Oh, that's very helpful to know - thanks! I do love a good audiobook, so I'll put this on my list.

LOL in advance! ;) Sounds good.

Their recent uber-popularity has somewhat taken the shine off zombies for me at the moment, to be honest. That said, I will always love Shaun of the Dead.

I also thought Black Sheep was a zombie movie but IMDB (why do I always type that wrong) says it's a were movie, so *shrugs* I guess I need to watch it again. I don't remember much except that the acting was terrible and I thought it was a hoot.

And I obviously shouldn't type before I've had my tea.

LOL!

I do love Shaun of the Dead, too. (I now have Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" playing in my head.)

This cracked me up. Clearly I need to add this to our queue! Thanks for the sort-of recommendation. ;)

Wasn't Black Sheep the movie with the sheep that kill people in New Zealand? God, that was bad, but in a fun way.

I really love the Resident Evil movies. Other than that there's 28 Weeks Later (I hated 28 Days Later), Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead (the remake)and World War Z was great as well. Not a movie but The Walking Dead is great.
Not sure if it counts, but Warm Bodies was also a lot of fun :D

Oh wow, I totally forgot about Warm Bodies! I went into that with low expectations, and I came away very impressed. It was well done and, as you say, a lot of fun. :D Thanks for these recs!

Not a big zombie fan, I guess my favorite is the original Night of the Living Dead. I am a big fan of the Walking Dead show, however. :)

I highly approve of your music choices, esp the D*C version of Re:Your Brains. I kinda like the older version of Zombie Jamboree better, the one that is on the Spike Lee A Cappella video, but alas, the youtube vid has the intro and credits tacked on the beginning which would be a little distracting.
