Two cheers and one moment of silence...

Cheer #1. Guess who's playing for the NCAA Division II national championship this upcoming Saturday? We are! Go Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears!

Lenoir-Rhyne University Celebration

Cheer #2. Dreams in the Witch House: A Lovecraftian Rock Opera is fantastic. I've come to expect nothing less from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, but even so, it exceeds my hopes. Consider it a "must listen" for fans of H.P. Lovecraft's work.

And a Moment of Silence:
R.I.P., Peter O'Toole (2 August, 1932–14 December, 2013). He was one of the true greats. My favorite film of all time, in fact, centers on his brilliant performance.

What we do in dungeons needs the shades of day. I stole the candles from the chapel. Jesus won't begrudge them and the chaplain works for me.

God, I will miss Mr. O'Toole. The beauty of him, the passion of him, the.....flat-out....joy and reckless, rollicking boundlessness of him.

Every line in Lion in Winter was pure gold. I think it must be a perfect movie. And just when I'm horrified at how dysfunctional they are, they lift themselves (and me) up and are just.......unforgettably beautiful.

Go well, Peter.

oh, I am so glad you enjoyed that little snail-ish-ness.......I've never quite figured Ned out, but he remains a tremendous fan and an intelligent, pithy and eclectic man.

I loved him in The Lion in Winter and Beckett. He was Henry II. And, of course, his beauty in Lawrence of Arabia was breathtaking. He will be sorely missed.

He was Henry II.

YES! Forever and ever, in my head, it's him.

I agree with you: sorely missed.
