We used to have a biography of her on our shelves, though I'm not sure if it made it through our last move. I was interested to see the discussion of her studying under Tolkien, and of Tolkien's being regarded as a good professor for women—ironically, partly because he was married, which meant he could tutor women students without the need to arrange chaperonage.

I loved her books on Theseus, her taking the myths and making them real. And while I enjoyed Fire from Heaven, I'm not such a fan of The Persian Boy. Still, she's given much pleasure, so Happy Birthday, Ms. Renault!
