Halloween Countdown, Day 10
Oct. 10th, 2015 07:11 amToday is official Star Wars Reads Day! Be sure to check out the events and free downloadable/printable activity kits here.

Mentioning Star Wars during my Halloween countdown doesn't seem out of place to me, because Star Wars has been a part of the Halloween costuming experience in my home for thirty-seven years, as these photos prove. (Psst! If you want to see more Star Wars costumes from all over the world, check out this group on Flickr.)

I'll leave you with two final Star Wars-Halloween visuals.

Date: 2015-10-10 04:21 pm (UTC)Do you know anything about the SW novels themselves? I've seen this lately, though in just regular hardback:

Are these novelizations from the movie scripts? Or am I so clueless that I never knew these were novels first, and then movies?

Date: 2015-10-11 10:35 pm (UTC)The first SW novel was attributed to Lucas himself, but really it was ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster, based on the screenplay by Lucas. It came out five months before the film (in December 1976) in the hopes of raising awareness and interest for the movie. (By the way, in a lovely bit of coming-full-circle-ness, Foster is also writing the novelization of the new SW film coming out this December.)
The other two came out right before their respective films, and again they were based on the films' screenplays.
It's very cool how B&N has collected all three in that edition!
