Halloween Countdown, Day 12

Every year, my parents send their granddog, the fabulous Virginia, a Halloween costume for her to wear (as well as treats to bribe her to model for pictures).

This year, my brilliant parents outdid themselves, creating and accessorizing a most remarkable costume. I invite you to behold Virginia as H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu, first introduced in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu", which was published in Weird Tales in 1928.

Under the ocean, she waits until the stars are right...





She was well compensated with treats both during and after her photo session. :)

OMG, that's absolutely adorable! And those most have been some treats, that she allowed you to put that on her snout. My dogs don't mind dressing up, but I think they'd draw the line at that. But I think it was all worth it, because I think this is the best outfit so far.

LOL! Thank you. There was much munching after the pictures taken. (And Larry "handed in" a couple of treats through the tentacles as promise of good things to come, too, during the photos! ;P) I still crack up every time I look at this. My mother can do anything, I'm pretty sure.

Virginia has since passed after fourteen years in our lives -- she was the best friend anyone could ever dream of (and, as you say, a very good sport!) -- and it does my heart good to think her photos are still making people smile.

My apologies for not answering sooner! Your photo has popped up in a number of places around the 'net (mostly at Pinterest), so a lot of people seem to be enjoying it :)
