In other news, I've accepted an invitation to join as a contributor to the Liberty and Power Blog with George Mason University's History News Network. The blog is syndicated through LJ as [livejournal.com profile] power_liberty.

Man preys on man; and you mourn for the idle tapestry that decorated a gothic pile, and the dronish bell that summoned the fat priest to prayer. You mourn for the empty pageant of a name, when slavery flaps her wing, and the sick heart retires to die in lonely wilds, far from the abodes of men. Did the pangs you felt for insulted nobility, the anguish that rent your heart when the gorgeous robes were torn off the idol human weakness had set up, deserve to be compared with the long-drawn sigh of melancholy reflection, when misery and vice are thus seen to haunt our steps, and swim on the top of every cheering prospect? Why is our fancy to be appalled by terrific perspectives of a hell beyond the grave?
Mary Wollstonecraft, "A Vindication of the Rights of Men"

Poo! I wish i didn't already own all the Mercury Theater stuff!! Audiobooksforfree.com is pretty good but its also got a catch. If you get the "free" version the quality pretty much stinks. If you're willing to actually pay a pittance for it you get a better deal. I've got a behemoth collection of CBS Radio Mystery Theater from the 70's complete with Nixon and Patty Hearst news interruptions. If anyone's interested let me know. There's some pretty good stuff including Orson Wells! Yay!! I have about 75 episodes. Thank you Professor Lady!

Good point about the Audiobooksforfree site; they're not exactly for free!!! Still, I'm pleased to pay less than $10 for 12 hours of unabridged audiobooks. It sounds like you have some great versions in your collection - wow! I'm always interested in good audio. Yay for Orson the man! :)
