Speaking as someone with severe mental health issues, I really adored this book b/c it didn't play to the typical tropespace. It managed to be both terrifying AND respectful. I was stunned. Loved it. Trying to get around to reading the sequels.

I actually was going to skip Asylum because I'm twitchy about that trope, having spent some time hospitalized in my younger days. (Thankfully after the Snake Pit days, but it was still a surreal experience.) I'll have to look it up now.
