Well, I'm back. (Pictures!)
Jul. 5th, 2006 07:47 pmI'm back from Toronto! The Gathering of the Fellowship was an amazing experience for a variety of reasons, and I hope to write a wee report of the adventure, from the taping of the Collector Showdown episode to the Imperishable Flame Award Ceremony, and of course the debut of The Magic Ring. For now, suffice it to say that it was particularly wonderful to meet at last
valancourtbooks,
nekrokedeia,
estellye,
bellatook, and many other friends, and to spend time with
lizzieausten and share her birthday celebration.
But until then, there's pictures!
Thanks to Valancourt Books, some great pictures are now available of our Magic Ring launch event/book signing.
And there's a truly bizarre (!) picture at Craig-Parker.net of me, between Lord of the Rings actors Bruce Hopkins and Craig Parker, acknowledging Craig's live-action illustration of the "Imperishable Flame" during the award ceremony.
To counteract that image, however, the Apex Digest blog has a new picture from Hypericon on June 24 that proves I don't always look quite so hopelessly and maniacally insane. (I'm a fan of this one because you can see H.P. Lovecraft's image on the screen -- and Tolkien's chin, if you squint.)
I hope to catch up with everyone soon and give details of the adventure, and I will point out other Gathering pictures if/when they appear.
But for now, sleep!
Remember what Bilbo used to say: "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
