Thanks to everyone who voted in my recent poll. I will revive the "daily spooky post" tradition this October. :)

On a related note, author Caitlin R. Kiernan just posted her poignant memories and photos about "the Lovecraft Tree," a gigantic tree that, until very recently, shaded H.P. Lovecraft's grave in Providence, Rhode Island.

They wept for humanity, those two, not for themselves. They could not bear that this should be the end. Ere silence was completed their hearts were opened, and they knew what had been important on the earth. Man, the flower of all flesh, the noblest of all creatures visible, man who had once made god in his image, and had mirrored his strength on the constellations, beautiful naked man was dying, strangled in the garments that he had woven.
- E.M. Forster, "The Machine Stops"

Isn't it sad? *hugs*

By the way, I received your package - a million, million thanks. I owe you yet another one, my friend. :) You are the best!

Does anyone know what happened to that tree? When I saw the pictures, my thoughts ran to roots feeding un-naturally, to tunnels leading down and away. Perhaps an invisible 'Something' from 'Beyond the Stars' has taken it away.

An excellent point indeed! Not to mention appropriate. ;)

Man, I'm such a lame-o. I saw the poll. I giggled. I was on the verge of voting and commenting, then went away to think of something witty to accompany a comment...alas, the rest is history.

Cheers to another Oktober Fester! Looking forward to it already. :D

Many thanks! :)

Condolences to you and your fellow Aussies on the loss of The Crocodile Hunter, by the way. A very sad loss of a very bright spirit.
