Happy Birthday to J.R.R. Tolkien, who was born this day in 1892. I hope everyone will participate in The Tolkien Society's Birthday Toast for 2005. Thank you, Professor, for your words!

And also happy birthday to The Shire's Virginia Lórien, a.k.a. Virginia, the world's most beautiful Boston terrier and our best friend, who was born this day in 2002. We love you, Hobbit girl!

"To thee no star be dark. Both heaven and earth friend thee for ever."

Oh,wishing the adorable doggie daughter a very happy Birthday.

And of course am so grateful that our author,THE author was born,or else this world would be a much dimmer place for me.Its hard to imagine how much texture and depth, just reading someone elses words can bring to our lives.Truly mind boggling.

:) Thanks so much! She got to go to Sonic, which is her idea of nirvana, so a good time was had by all. :) :)

I couldn't agree with you more about JRRT and the impact of words on our lives. We picked a fortunate age into which to be born!

Oh,I'm so glad Virginia had such a good birthday.I take Cassidy to Sonic as well for a treat. She is fond of tater tots, though since they aren't very healthy we don't eat too many of them.;-)

And yes, while I'm a person who has a greater interest in the past,I must say that the age we live was at least greatly enhanced by our Professor.Ohhh, can you just imagine if he were still alive today. What we could ask him, what he might write???

I know what you mean about those tater tots - definitely a treat that must be rationed! :)

>What we could ask him, what he might write???

What wonderful questions! I'm sure the answers would be more and better than I could imagine...
