For the past two years I have been so very pleased and proud to be a regular contributor to StarShipSofa: The Audio Science Fiction Magazine with my "History of the Genre" segments and my narrations, and delighted to work with its fantastic editor, a true visionary, Tony C. Smith. Tonight, StarShipSofa became the first podcast ever nominated for a Hugo Award. To Tony, to the other StarShipSofa contributors, and to all listeners and supporters, I offer heartfelt thanks and congratulations. History's been made!

And best wishes and congratulations to all of the 2010 Hugo Award nominees!

(Along with Lawrence Santoro, Grant Stone, and Hugo-nominated editor Jonathan Strahan, I took part in a live podcast show with Tony reacting to/commenting on the nominations. You can download or listen to it here.)

Thanks so much! :) I'm really thrilled for the whole StarShipSofa family - and, on a larger scale, for podcasts as a whole "coming of age" as a respected and recognized branch of the SF community.

Thanks! We're all thrilled, obviously - not just for StarShipSofa (although there's that, of course), but also for the podcasting community as a whole. Yay!

Aw, thank you! This is a "win" not just for StarShipSofa, but also for the whole podasting community, I think. Very exciting.

This is awesome! I now have to seriously consider purchasing a supporting membership....

It's a great time to be a Sofanaut, isn't it? A supporting membership's a great idea! I've done that, too. I wish I could attend this year, but even above and beyond the opportunity for voting (which is great), it seems to me that the supporting membership really pays for itself once you get the voter's packet with all of the nominated literature.

*High fives*

Hurray!

P.S. another fine reading, although, I quickly realised I'd "read" the story before ;p

Yay! I'm thrilled not only for StarShipSofa, but also for the whole podcasting community.

Thanks so much for the kind words! My next narration due for recording is Peter Watts' "The Island," which is now a Hugo nominee. Wheee!

I think Peter Watts is great, so I'll be looking forward to that one in particular :)

At RavenCon, would you sign any Cthulhu related books?

And if you want, I could lend you my CD of the Suspense adaptation of The Dunwich Horror (with Ronald Coleman as Armitage) for the weekend.

Hey there. I'll sign anything! :) I'll also have with me copies of several of my books, the most Lovecraftian of which is The Intersection of Fantasy and Native America: From H.P. Lovecraft to Leslie Marmon Silko. Thanks for asking!

And thanks a million for offering to loan me the CD! I'd take you up on that, but thanks to your recommendation, I tracked down this adaptation via podcast, so I think I should be able to download a digital copy of it. But I'm so glad you gave me a head's up about it - it sounds terrific.

Even though we have somewhat conflicting schedules, I'm sure our paths will cross at RavenCon. I look forward to saying hello in person!
