eldritchhobbit: (SF/Weird Tales)

* For those of you with the Science Channel, FYI: Ridley Scott's new series Prophets of Science Fiction begins this Wednesday, November 9.

* I'm intrigued by this glimpse of Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham in the forthcoming adaptation of Great Expectations.

* Pumpkin spice lattes are gone from Starbucks until next year. Woe.

* Reminder: If you'd like a holiday card from me, please respond here. Thanks!

Enjoy (if that's the right word) 24 nerdy jokes in 2:30 minutes (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] killerweasel):

So dull and dark are the November days.
The lazy mist high up the evening curled,
And now the morn quite hides in smoke and haze;
The place we occupy seems all the world.

I just read an article about Prophets and was going to email you! Love the November poem... not familiar with him and now need to check into him. Thanks.

Wait, it's not even Thanksgiving yet and the pumpkin spice is gone? That's kinda crazy!

Isn't that bizarre? At least at my local Starbucks, they've already moved on to peppermint mochas and gingerbread lattes. I thought I was safe until Thanksgiving, at least...

Oh time, how fickle you are!

HBC makes a lovely Miss Haversham, but she looks too young; need a little aging makeup there.

Good point about HBC's age. She does look wonderfully haunted, though...

Aren't those jokes horrible? LOL!!!

PS Panera still has a pumpkin spice latte, as do most other coffee houses, chain or otherwise I expect. Starbucks just dropped off the wagon too soon.

Oh, thanks for this!

And thanks also to you, I have pumpkin coffee at home, too. :) It does seem like Starbucks dropped off too soon, doesn't it? I thought Thanksgiving used to be the dividing line for coffee seasons. Blech.

You're welcome! I have just ordered some for me and some for my parents for Christmas.

Silly Starbucks. I guess they wanted to make room for the Christmas lattes, but still, we have Thanksgiving to get through first. And in my family Christmas dinner is more or less a re-run of Thanksgiving, so more pumpkins!
