Winter is my favorite season, second only to autumn. And at last, it feels as if we're finally experiencing winter.
I have pictures from our home to illustrate...

And here is Virginia's enthusiastic response to the snow.

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it; the whole story doesn't show.

Date: 2006-02-12 03:35 pm (UTC)I don't like Spring, either. Or Summer. :)
I think Virginia has the right idea with the nap plan!

Date: 2006-02-12 03:02 am (UTC)Pictures are AWESOME. Snowy pine needles with your pretty house are gorgeous (it seems everyone is getting snow!), and are those the woods where the deer hang out? Absolutely magical.
*giggle* Virgina sooooo cutalicious.
♥

Date: 2006-02-12 03:46 pm (UTC)Thanks for the kind words about the pictures. Those are indeed the woods where the deer hang out. You can see more at the far left of the house picture. In the woods shot, you may be able to make out a patch of reflection in the middle of the trees. That's the pond where they like to drink. Isn't it amazing how ice crystals can make everything seem magical?

Date: 2006-02-13 04:45 pm (UTC)Of course you can use the icon (interjects, "Wow! It's been over a year that we've known each other!"). Actually, if you don't mine, I'm going to snatch it back from you while I can, because I honestly thought I'd lost it. ♥

Date: 2006-02-14 10:52 pm (UTC)My husband has put large stone trolls/gnomes around the main lawn, just before the woods begin. I like to thing the faeries sunbathe on their foreheads. :)

Awesome! Do you need the "cuddle hobbits" one as well?

Date: 2006-02-12 08:53 am (UTC)I love Winter too. It's my favourite season; my least favourite is summer, which I don't like at all.

Date: 2006-02-13 10:41 am (UTC)I have to admit this was one of the things that really tipped the balance into moving to Scotland, the cooler summers. People kept saying 'but it's so much colder up there'. Our response was, 'Yes, lovely, isn't it?'
Not, I hasten to add that we've had a Winter anything like we were expecting. In fact parts of England have had more snow/been colder than we have!

Date: 2006-02-12 07:36 pm (UTC)In her honor, I offer this:
Canis Major
The great Overdog
That heavenly beast
With a star in one eye,
Gives a leap in the east.
He dances upright
All the way to the west
And never once drops
On his forefeet to rest.
I;m a poor underdog,
Bit tonight I will bark
With the great Overdog
That romps through the dark.

Date: 2006-02-14 10:58 pm (UTC)Yes, Virginia did romp. She even cavorted. Then she shivered, and looked at me as if to say, "What are we thinking, being out here when it's warm and snuggly inside?" And then she took off for the front door, with me sliding along in her tracks. LOL!

Date: 2006-02-12 11:13 pm (UTC)You have a lovely home EH, and Virginia is even a good model when she is zonked! It shouldn't be possible to be that adorable, lol!

Date: 2006-02-14 11:00 pm (UTC)Virginia does suffer from an overactive cute gene. She can be sick, sleepy, disgruntled, or dirty, and still she is too cute for words. But we love her anyway. LOL!
